Today’s the day we announced a new phase in the evolution of our partnership with Microsoft. We have officially entered into a new, multi-year, strategic framework agreement that includes tight go-to-market, engineering, and sales programs for Commvault’s Metallic Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) data protection portfolio with Microsoft Azure storage.

Metallic was built to help companies of all sizes, across geographies, access enterprise-level SaaS data protection. We started expanding the reach of our solutions earlier this month when we signaled another step toward global availability. Less than one month later, I’m thrilled to announce that Metallic™ Backup and Recovery for Microsoft Office 365 is now available as a featured app in the Microsoft Azure Marketplace – another milestone in our push to meet our customers wherever they are in their cloud journey.

Azure Marketplace customers can now take advantage of the scalability, reliability, and agility of Metallic SaaS data protection with Azure cloud storage, driving application development and shaping business strategies. This is available in North America now and will be rolling out to ANZ in the quarter ending Sept. 30, 2020, with availability in EMEA to follow. Marketplace customers worldwide will be able to easily discover, try, and deploy Metallic software solutions that are certified and optimized to run seamlessly on Azure.

The Azure Marketplace is the online market for buying and selling cloud solutions certified to run on Azure. According to Microsoft, the Azure Marketplace helps connect companies seeking innovative, cloud-based solutions with partners who have developed solutions that are ready to use. It’s a no-brainer given that Metallic’s “brain” lives in Azure and Commvault’s core IP (on which Metallic is based) has been tightly integrated with Microsoft, its applications, and cloud platform for many, many years. Together, Metallic and Azure are scalable, secure, simple to manage, and help companies to protect their data within their modern, hybrid environments.

What’s more, customers at any phase of their digital transformation—whether they are moving to, or already leveraging, the cloud—have an easy entry point through their data protection solution and can use Metallic to safeguard data across their hybrid or cloud-native environment.

But this isn’t just going to benefit customers. It’s also important for our ecosystem of partners to know that Metallic has launched in the Azure Marketplace with a channel-forward referral model that includes multiple opportunities for Metallic and Commvault partners to participate. On the whole, Marketplace availability will make it even easier to help their customers with simple-to-buy data protection. For our partners, we will be reaching out to all of you soon with some new programs centered on Metallic in the Marketplace.

Commvault and Microsoft are committed to building peerless cloud and SaaS solutions around the customer’s needs and requirements in a hybrid cloud world. We give you the tools for today, and the keys for the future. With Metallic plus Azure, you can trust your cloud is secure and your data is there when – and how – you need it.
